Germany Business / Visit Visa for Pakistani Nationals

If you are a Pakistani native with an ordinary Pakistani passport and want to go to Germany for tourism, holidays, visiting friends/family, meetings, conferences, or business purposes, you will typically require a Schengen Visa for a short stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Germany is part of the Schengen Area, so a German short-stay visa can normally allow travel to other Schengen countries, as long as Germany is the acceptable main destination for the application.

The following is a practical guide for obtaining a Germany Tourist/Visit Visa and a Germany Business Visa from Pakistan, based mostly on current requirements given by the German Missions in Pakistan.

Germany Tourist / Visit Visa for Pakistani Nationals

A Germany Tourist Visa is suitable if you are traveling for:

Tourism and sightseeing

Holidays

Visiting German cities

Short private trips

Visiting friends or family

Other permitted short-term purposes

The short-stay visa is normally a Schengen Category C visa.

Maximum Stay

A Schengen short-stay visa allows for a stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, subject to the validity and limitations specified on the visa.

Basic Germany Tourist Visa Requirements

The current checklist for Pakistani applicants in German Missions comprises the following.

Passport

You need:

  • Original current Pakistani passport
  • Copies of pages 1 and 2
  • Previous passports, where available
  • Copies of previous visas

The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the duration of the intended visa stay. Importantly, the German Mission stipulates that Pakistani passport holders must sign them. A Pakistani passport that is unsigned cannot be used to obtain a German visa. If a previous passport has been lost, a police record with an English or German translation is necessary.

Germany Visa Application Form

You must fill out the VIDEX Schengen visa application form online, print it, and sign it. The German Mission requires a signed printed document as part of the application.

Photographs

You need:

  • Two biometric passport photographs
  • Photographs should be recent and not older than six months
  • One photograph is attached to the application form and the other is submitted separately.

Travel Health Insurance

Travel medical insurance is mandatory for the Schengen application. The German Mission requires:

  • Minimum coverage of €30,000
  • Coverage throughout the Schengen countries, not Germany alone
  • Original signed policy plus a copy.

Make sure your insurance dates cover the complete intended trip.

Hotel / Accommodation

You need proof of accommodation for your entire intended stay. This can include:

  • Hotel reservations
  • Accommodation booking
  • Other acceptable proof of accommodation

Your hotel documentation should show the full address, and the German Mission also requests a detailed itinerary. Your itinerary should correspond with your hotel and flight reservations.

Flight Reservation

The German Embassy requires a round-trip flight reservation covering the intended duration of your stay. It is advisable to avoid purchasing expensive, non-refundable tickets before the visa decision unless necessary.

Employment / NOC

If you are employed in Pakistan, provide an original certificate from your employer confirming:

  • Your designation
  • How long you have been employed
  • Permission/NOC for your trip.

Financial Documents

This is one of the most important parts of a Germany visit visa application.

  • Six months’ bank statements
  • Three months’ salary slips
  • Investment certificates
  • Pension documents
  • Property documents
  • Other evidence of financial resources.

Important

There is no reasonable worldwide “minimum bank balance” value that guarantees a German visa. The financial evidence should make sense in relation to:

  • Your salary/income
  • Trip duration
  • Number of travelers
  • Hotel costs
  • Flights
  • Daily expenses
  • Your normal account activity

An unexpected substantial deposit just before application, without a reasonable explanation, can raise concerns about the source of cash.

Family & Civil Documents

The current German checklist also includes:

  • CNIC
  • NADRA FRC
  • Marriage Certificate, if applicable
  • Birth Certificate for minors
  • List of children
  • List of relatives living abroad

NADRA certificates should be obtained in English where applicable.

Previous Visa Refusals

You must disclose if you have any previous visa refusals. The German Mission clearly warns that failing to mention a previous denial can be considered fraud and result in refusal. Never conceal a previous Schengen, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, or other relevant visa denial when the application requests it.

A Germany Business / Trade Fair / Exhibitor Visa is appropriate when your purpose is genuinely business-related, such as:

  • Business meetings
  • Negotiations
  • Factory visits
  • Trade fairs
  • Exhibitions
  • Conferences
  • Commercial events
  • Meetings with German companies
  • Visiting business partners

This is still generally a short-stay Schengen visa if the visit is under 90 days.

Germany Business Visa – Main Requirements

The essential paperwork is comparable to that for a tourist application, but the business goal necessitates much stronger supporting documentation.

Pakistani Passport

Provide:

  • Current passport
  • Previous passports
  • Copies of relevant pages and visas

The passport must satisfy the validity requirement and must be signed.

VIDEX Application

Complete the online VIDEX application, print it and sign it.

Biometric Photos

Provide two recent biometric photographs not older than six months.

Schengen Travel Insurance

Insurance must:

  • Cover all Schengen states
  • Provide at least €30,000 coverage
  • Cover the intended travel period.

German Company Invitation – VERY IMPORTANT

For a business visa, the German company/organization must send an invitation letter.

The current German Mission checklist states that the invitation should:

  • Be on company/organization letterhead
  • Be no older than three months
  • Identify the invited person and position
  • Explain the purpose of the visit
  • State the dates
  • Provide a detailed itinerary.

The German company should additionally supply supporting corporate documentation, such as a Commercial Register extract (Handelsregisterauszug) and proof that the individual signing the invitation has the necessary authorization, as well as a copy of the signatory’s passport.

Trade Fair / Exhibition Applicants

If you are going to Germany for a trade fair or exhibition, additional documents may include:

  • Exhibition entrance ticket
  • Stall booking
  • Stall rental confirmation
  • Invoice
  • Proof of payment
  • Confirmation from the exhibition organizer where applicable.

This is especially important for Pakistani business owners who attend large German trade exhibitions.

Hotel Booking

Provide hotel reservations covering the entire intended stay, including the hotel’s full address.

Return Flight Reservation

Provide a round-trip flight reservation covering the business trip.

Business Reference Letter from Pakistan

Your Pakistani company should provide an original business reference letter.

It should clearly mention:

  • Your name
  • Designation
  • Purpose of business trip
  • Duration
  • Permission to travel
  • Who will pay the travel expenses
  • Who will pay accommodation expenses.

Personal Financial Evidence

Business applicants must provide at least:

  • Personal bank statements for the last six months
  • Salary slips for the last three months, where applicable.

Company Financial Evidence

For business applicants, the German Mission currently asks for:

  • Company bank statements for the last six months
  • FBR acknowledgements of tax returns for the last two fiscal years

Additional documentation demonstrating the company’s legitimate business activity and financial standing, such as commercial dealings and shipments to Europe, can be valuable.
